Hiking in Big Sur, Dinner at Mission Ranch

On Friday morning we headed to Big Sur to do a little hiking. I was a bit nervous because everything I read sounded like it was beautiful, but they do have mountain lions and rattlesnakes in the area. I'm not very brave when it comes to wild animals that could cause bodily injury. Luckily we didn't encounter either. We did see sea otters, sea lions and a friendly little squirrel.

After a long day of hiking, I took a little nap and then got ready for dinner. The Mission Ranch (owned by Clint Eastwood) is one of our favorite restaurants in the area, so we had dinner there. The food was delicious and the portions were way too big, but we saved a little room for bread pudding for dessert. Delicious!

Chemo #5

Chemo #5 is over and it all went well. My counts are down as expected, but I'm feeling pretty well. I'll have to take it easy the next few days but usually by Mondays I'm feeling stronger again. Lori took me to chemo, then we went to Bongo Java for lunch. I then came home and took a 2 hr nap. I got to have dinner with my friends Anna and Sarah tonight, it sure was good to get to see them again. We all worked together at Healthways years ago. I start back to work on Monday. I'm looking forward to being back with my friends. I hope they have patience with my "chemo brain" tendencies. I actually looked it up, because it has been frustrating for me. Mayo clinic had an article on it, so I guess I'm not imagining it. Dinner with friends at Snookums

I just realized I never published this post... Every three weeks or so I go to west TN for work. I usually spend a day in Memphis and a day in Jackson. I always try to go by and see Kim at work in Jackson, but this time I got Amber to come up and meet us too. Dinner parties with friends

We are a part of a "dinner club" group with some people from my work and last weekend was our month to host. We've been rotating through different themes...Italian, French, Mexican, Tapas, etc.. My friend Mickey and I always do ours together - we decided to go very informal and chose the theme "Redneck dinner party".  We had babyback ribs, smoked chicken, mac and cheese, tater tots, Mississippi mud cakes, banana pudding, moon pies and of course squirt cheese in a can and fried bologna sandwiches for appetizers. We put together a cd with everyones favorite country or southern rock songs. I think it was agreed by the end of the night that evidently we must be rednecks, because everyone had a blast and enjoyed the food, music and decorations.
