Movie Night

Saturday night Bryan, Jenni and I went to see "The Runaways". This is an indie film that debuted at Sundance and is based on the book "Neon Angel" by Cherie, the lead singer of the band. It takes you back to 1975 and the beginning of the musical career of Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Cherie Currie. These girls were 15 years old when they were traveling around the world and living a very fast paced life. It always amazes me that people lived through the haze of the 60s and 70s and are still able to play and write songs. I would think their brains would be fried. I think these are the people who's genes scientist need to study - what makes them able to withstand all the abuse and carry on?

They did a great job at casting the movie. Dakota Fanning plays Cherie, and Kristen Stewart plays Joan. The resemblance was very close.

The movie concludes with Joan in a radio station with the release of "I love Rock and Roll". Now that's a song that has definitely stood the test of time.
